In 2002, one of Louisiana’s oldest and largest law firms retained TheRemsenGroup to organize its annual Firm Retreat for more than 60 partners.
A New Direction
We worked closely with Firm leadership to bring innovation and energy to the program, focusing it on the Firm’s future growth alternatives. John was the featured speaker, and developed an agenda that was instrumental in helping the Firm set a new strategic direction.
Clear Objectives
Our goal in structuring the program was to shake up an event that had become stale and predictable. We created a very clear agenda, with the primary objective of obtaining partner buy-in for a new marketing program. John developed all the handout material and PowerPoint presentations to sell the objectives and benefits.
Record Profitability
At the end of the retreat, despite their initial skepticism, an overwhelming majority of the partners supported the new marketing effort. An important element in the marketing plan was the hiring of the firm’s first marketing director. In the two years following the retreat, the firm’s revenues and profits per partner reached record highs.
The Best Retreat Ever
By focusing attention on what needed to be done and establishing clear objectives, we created the initiative for significant Firm-wide change. In fact, the managing partner called it “the best retreat we have ever had.”
