JOHN REMSEN, JR. APPOINTED TO SERVE ON FLORIDA BAR’S ADVERTISING TASK FORCE 2004
Fort Lauderdale, Florida — April 2, 2004 — The Florida Bar has announced that John Remsen, Jr., president of The Remsen Group, has been appointed to serve on The Florida Bar’s Advertising Task Force 2004. The Task Force consists of a broad cross-section of lawyers from around the State of Florida and is charged with “reviewing the attorney advertising rules and recommending changes if deemed necessary.”
The appointment was recently made by Florida Bar president-elect Kelly Overstreet Johnson. “As one of the leading law firm marketing professionals in the country, John brings a unique and invaluable point of view to the Task Force,” said Johnson. Remsen is the only non-lawyer to serve on the 21-member Task Force.
“Florida’s current rules and regulations governing lawyer adverting are among the strictest in the United States,” says Remsen. “The Task Force provides a great opportunity to make changes that will benefit Florida’s legal profession, its business community and the general public.”
John Remsen, Jr. is the founder of The Managing Partner Forum for Florida Law Firms and a pioneer in the field of law firm marketing. In 1997, he formed The Remsen Group, a marketing consulting firm that works exclusively with law firms. He has served on the national Board of Directors of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) and as President of its Southeastern chapter for three years. He is currently a member of The Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Advertising.
A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, John holds an MBA degree from The University of Virginia (1985) and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida (1980).
